Turning Pain into Power: Why the Queer Girl Initiative Exists

Every day, queer women face impossible choice, staying in environments that no longer serve them or stepping into the unknown with little to no safety net. Many of us have experienced that moment: a breakup that left us without a home, a job that couldn’t sustain us, or a system that wasn’t built to catch us when we fell.

The Queer Girl Initiative (QGI) was born from those moments of struggle. Founded by Rae Jenae, QGI is building an Emergency Support Pilot Program called “From Pain to Power.” Its mission is simple but life changing: to help queer women rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and community support.

What We’re Building

The pilot program focuses on providing emergency housing, financial relief, and pathways to employment for women who are ready to rebuild. In its first year, QGI aims to:

• Rehouse women in safe, affirming environments

• Provide financial relief, therapy, and childcare support

• Connect participants with job and skill building opportunities

• Create a mentorship cycle where every woman helped can pay it forward

This is more than charity, it’s a blueprint for community resilience.

Why It Matters

When a woman finds stability, she doesn’t just change her own life, she changes everything around her. Families stabilize, businesses gain reliable employees, and our local economy grows stronger. By investing in queer women, we’re not only addressing emergency needs; we’re breaking generational cycles of hardship and rebuilding confidence and opportunity where systems have failed us.

Every dollar, resource, or partnership helps turn lived struggle into community power.

How You Can Help

We’re seeking business partners, sponsors, and professionals who can contribute resources or expertise in areas such as:

• Housing & property management

• Employment opportunities

• Car dealerships

• Financial literacy & credit repair

• Therapy, childcare, and trade training

• Moving companies, food services, and event support

Your partnership can directly impact a woman’s life, helping her move from instability to empowerment.

Be Part of the Change

The Queer Girl Initiative represents a movement: a community driven effort to ensure no woman has to face instability alone. Every donation, collaboration, or shared post brings us closer to building the first lesbian centered emergency support system in Florida, one that uplifts, employs, and empowers queer women to rise together.

“Becoming the change I need — and building it for others.”
